Early in January Lord Patel and members of the PDTSRG visited officials in the Welsh Assembly Government Ofice to update them on the work of the Patel Review. Lord Patel said that the meeting was very instructive and useful and there is a clear need to ensure that good communication between the PDTSRG and officials in Wales was maintained.
In December 2009 Lord Patel and members of the project team visited HMP Liverpool and Phoenix House. Lord Patel would like to thank all those involved including the service user groups who made the visit so valuable. Lord Patel was especially struck by the issues raised by service users concerning the need for speedy and appropriate access to residential accommodation, support and rebailitation.
We have now started our service user, family and carer consultation process which will run until September 10 2009. The letter from Lord Patel and the attached scripts and questionnaire provide more information.
